Keeping track of different passwords is a hard thing to do for most people. It is best to use some sort of tool to help you out. You have several different options that you can use, to have easier access to your passwords. You can either memorize the password and hope you don’t forget it or you can use a piece of software that will store the information for you. You can also write it down on a piece of paper (not recommended though!!). No matter what method you use, a time might come that you might lose your computer’s password. This can be especially troubling if it is the administrator password for your Windows operating system. This can happen to anyone. If this does happen to you, there are several techniques that you can use to be able to recover the password. We will go over a few of them in this article.

The first way that you can recover the passwords that you have lost in Windows is to use one of the many software options that are available. There have been several solutions that are also highly rated and will help you get the password back. Just be sure that you read the reviews of the software that you are downloading. You want to make sure that the software works and that it doesn’t harm your computer in any way. There have been some password recovery solutions that have been known to mess up the registry settings. In any case you should always back up your registry, in case something like this happens. This is especially true when embarking on a project such as this. A proven and safe software to recover your computer’s administrator password is Spotmau Powersuite. This is a bootable CD which you insert into your CD drive and reboot. After booting up, the program will recover for you all computer’s passwords, both for regular user accounts and for the Administrator account. It can also recover lost passwords from email, Windows Live, Yahoo mail, Gmail, Outlook etc. Spotmau Powersuite advertises that it achieves a 100% recovery rate for lost passwords.

If you don’t want to spend a few dollars on a password recovery program, you can also try another way. This is the techniques used by hackers when they are trying to break into a system. They use a brute force attack. A brute force attack is when a program runs through the dictionary and uses random word combinations to see if it can guess the password. This is an old school hacker attack and can prove to be very successful. The drawback about this technique, is that it can take a long time to run through the process. The faster the computer, the faster it can go through the combinations. If you don’t have a lot of time, this solution should only be used, if the former does not work.
