iPad
Constantly offering a premium built tablet is the iPad, the current 9.7” model has replaced the ‘Air’ range but not taken its name. the current model isn’t suggested for those who have bought an iPad in the last couple of years but more for those who haven’t upgraded since buying their first tablet. Its higher resolution screen and lighter weight make it a desirable upgrade and the new A9 processor means using current mobile apps will be more natural and in sync with the overall experience. Apple makes your choice to be their brand easier by offering high-quality size alternatives, iPad mini is considerably smaller for better use on the go, and the iPad Pro offers 10” to 12.9” screens and even better hardware for more sophisticated use. iPad is a premium tablet to pick and that comes with a cost, the Mini can be a very tempting price but currently the 9.7” starts around £249 which isn’t their normal mid-range price. There’s not too many new features to appreciate, it does seem that its released it to tempt old iPad users to upgrade or people wanting their first tablet to come it at a good price point.

The lower memory Tablets are around £500 and that would get a similarly sized tablet to the current iPad at half the price. the size of the tablet is the only part to compare against the 9.7” iPad, the rest of its design and spec should be compared to the iPad Pro which is a similar price. the Tab S3 is an ultra-thin 6mm lightweight tablet which has the best processors currently available, in the 10” size this is one of the best choices to have is money isn’t the biggest factor. The super AMOLED screen is one of the best in the range and now support high dynamic range, for better colours and contrast.
Microsoft Surface Pro
The Surface Pro can arguably be considered as a laptop, it is a hybrid if both a laptop and tablet. Its weight is more in comparison to other tablets and with the weight, a better overall specification and an i7 processor helps identify its professional level. A standout point for the Surface Pro is that its operation system is windows, so if your already used to windows it might be the smoothest transition. In reviews, it comes across as more of a workplace option compared to a home media choice for leisure, though it has a massive choice of apps to download. Surface Pros include an ultra-thin keypad that can also be used as a case, which is where the question of whether it’s a laptop or tablet originates.
Google Pixel C
Like the Pixel phone, the tablet by Google has been well received. If you want a value tablet to start off with, or don’t intend on using your tablet constantly, the Amazon Fire is priced at only £80. It uses Android operating system but it’s not the conventional layout that Android normally offers other brands, meaning that the Google Play store is fully accessible to Amazon Tablet users. Other brands struggle to compete with Amazon because on the build quality and process power it’s hard to find better value for money.
These brands are all best seller for their own reasons including brand loyalty, spec and even just on its aesthetic appeal. Tablets are best to view in stores, seeing how they feel and operate will help determine your choice if online research isn’t helping to narrow it down. Currently, if your needs consist of internet browsing, playing games and watching movies both the iPad and Amazon fire are the best choices in regards to value for money.
