tech for home

(Those oxen in the cave drawings barely resemble the real thing, by the way. Truth be told, you can’t really expect more of our ancestors who didn’t even have a measly etch-a-sketch let alone a laser-beam based alarm system!)

All jokes aside, getting an automated lawn mower can save you the precious time you can spend with your family instead, or being able to set the temperature gauge from afar with one of those high-tech remote thingies will mean the difference between walking into a pleasantly-cooled room and sweating bullets left, right and, center.

Interesting Ways to Update your Home with Cutting-Edge Tech

1) Smart Thermostat

Speaking of the devil, one of the biggest points of misunderstanding between the members of each given family would be: 1) finances, 2) interpersonal relations that take years to form and foster, 3) setting the thermostat.

Well, … well, just now we’ve realized that this contraption we’re about to present to you doesn’t really help with the interpersonal situation. But! – It can postpone the fight you’ll have with your beloved family members until you get home!

What we’re proposing is a remotely-controlled thermostat – a brilliant invention that lets you take the reins of your house thermostat and control the temperature level via an app you’d have to install previously on your phone.

(If you’re a cheeky type, you can even play some practical jokes on your unfortunate family members. Just make sure they don’t catch a cold.)

Also, it’s always wise to protect your house against extreme temperature and disasters caused by them, so if you haven’t already, install some fire ducts and insulate your property thoroughly. This will also mean that all that temperature adjusting will not go in vain, as you will not be leaking any heat or cool through the walls.

2) TV + A Smart Box of Wonders

And by ‘wonders’, we mainly mean Netflix. (And then a bunch of other TV stations, as well.)

Unless you’re Amish, chances are – you’re a member of a family that owns a TV set. These boxes of joy and information proliferation have become an instant success ever since they first saw the light of day.

Nowadays, things have not really changed all that much. TVs play an integral part in socializing with the members of your family. Indeed, if you have managed to resolve the question of who holds the remote democratically (or undemocratically but at least with no casualties or imprisoned parties), watching your favorite TV show will bring you all closer together.

Now, the family spirit is there, so all you need to keep up with the Joneses would be a wee bit of technical innovation. For this particular department, so to speak, we propose you obtain a new 4K TV set with a TV box coming from the provider of your choice.

3) Remote Doorbell

This one might sound like a bit of a curiosity, but the deal is actually quite straightforward.

You see, operating a doorbell nowadays (and it’s been so for quite some time, actually) is more than just hearing it and answering the phone. The door! – we meant the door.

Now, if you have one of those contraptions with a surveillance camera and a microphone that allows you to both see and speak with the person in front of your door, you can communicate with your visitors more freely than just ogling them through the peephole.

With the remote doorbell, you can install an app on your phone that will allow you to talk with the visitors ante portas even if you’re away. Pretty clever, huh? Not to mention, you might just find out who the mail thief is.

4) Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

Many home improvement gadgets serve the purpose of making your life easier, and these here contraptions represent a par excellence example of this tendency.

Vacuuming, in general, is widely considered one of the most annoying chores, as it requires you to endure an hour or two of constant noise and then do movements and maneuvers that can be easily considered hard manual labor!

To avoid this, get a robot to do it for you! A robot doesn’t have feelings, does it? (Well, it doesn’t – yet.) Robotic vacuums are getting more and more popular because they allow you to program them in advance to the sort of terrain you have going on in your house.

After you’ve prepared them for the task at hand, let them zoom about freely, recharge them every now and again, and Bob’s your uncle!

5) Self-Watering Plant Pots

Other than helping us get rid of the annoying parts of our domestic everyday lives, high-tech gadgets are also there to strip us of any joy and pleasure we may have felt in doing certain tasks around the house.

Enter self-watering plant pots!

Now, while it’d go without saying that no self-respecting gardener would ever come near one of these contraptions with a ten-foot pole, we have to admit – they can be quite useful if you’re away on holiday, for example, and you don’t have any friends to come over and do it for you.

Oh dear, this list just got a tad sadder. Well, perhaps you’ll meet some friends while you’re on that holiday, how’s that!

Anyway, a self-watering water plant will, what else, water itself periodically, so that the plant can survive another day.

All things considered, although often shunned by some folks embarking on a minimalist sort of lifestyle, high-tech gadgetry can make your home more comfortable to live in, easier to handle, and more dynamic.

You and your family can enjoy new TV programs, temperature at a level, and talk to strangers in front of your door from miles away. What’s not to love?
