Robot cleaners perform different tasks like vacuuming carpets, rugs and the floors. Some vacuum cleaners can perform functions including cleaning and mopping the floor. The devices can differ concerning their key specifications, but they work similarly and perform similar tasks.
How Does A Roomba Robot Vacuum Works?
A Roomba robot is a computerized vacuum cleaner that uses preprogrammed instructions to clean your house. It operates just like a conventional vacuum cleaner, but the significant difference is that a robot cleaner automatically guides itself.
This device uses spinning brushes and a vacuum to pick up dirt from the floor. It consists of a brush that is on the side that pushes dirt underneath the machine. There are also two brushes that rotate in opposite directions that pick up the dust and direct it toward a vacuum which sucks it to a little storage bin. The mechanism with a conventional vacuum cleaner is not very different.
A Roomba Automatically Cleans Your House
A Roomba cleaner can automatically move around the house, and it has two large tractor-like wheels. These wheels can run in the opposite direction, and each wheel has a separate electric motor that drives it. The device also has different electric motors that control its movements when cleaning your house.
The product uses a combination of two cleaning methods namely “wall following” and “random bounce.” Wall following involves movement along the wall where it cleans right into the angles using flailing brushes on its sides. The robot makes sure that all corners are clean through this cleaning method.
Random bounce is a method of cleaning where the robot cleans the entire floor, and it stops when it hits an obstacle. It changes direction when it bumps into an obstacle, and it can also use the spiraling method to clean the house. The robot cleaner has sensors that help it to detect dirt, and it can repeatedly clean those areas.
The Roomba Vacuum also uses the spiraling method to clean the flow. It spirals outward in a circular motion to clean large places. In a big room, the cleaner starts from a central position moving outward. However, there are different modes of cleaning, and a vacuum can also use the method of mapping the room.
Newer versions of Roomba robots use an intelligent cleaning mode called Vision Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (VSLAM), and it uses its infrared cameras to map your room. It takes photos of your cleaning area the uses the data to plan its cleaning routine. It gradually learns to follow straight lines when cleaning when the battery is low, the robot docks for recharging and returns to begin cleaning from where it left.
The Roomba has a built-in rechargeable battery, and its features are designed in such a way that they use little power. Some Roombas can operate for 90 minutes on a full battery. One fantastic thing about this model is that it can return to the dock base station for recharging when the battery is running low.
Roomba has Internal Intelligence
The Cleaner device has multiple sensors that guide its operations. Every Roomba robot has an infrared beam and photocell sensors that detect obstacles like walls and furniture. It slows down when it detects obstacles in front. The touch sensitive bumper helps to stop the robot when it hits obstacles.
The wheel drop sensor helps the gadget to sense if the wheel drops into a cliff so that it turns the other side or reverse. The sensor also helps to prevent the sensor from falling from the steps or when it reaches the edge. The device is intelligent in that it avoids places where it can plunge resulting in damages. Other bottom sensors help to detect things like cables that can distract the movement of the robot vacuum.
The robot has a piezoelectric sensor that senses tough stains on the floor. It has dirt detect blue light which flashes when it moves across stubborn stains. It repeatedly returns to the spot, and it cleans the area thoroughly until the earth disappears. The cleaner is smart in that it makes sure that it leaves your floor sparkling clean even if there are tough stains from liquid spills.
The robot vacuum also cleans all the areas in your house including underneath the furniture. Its size is compact such that it can freely move below low lying furniture like sofas as well as chairs and tables. It might be tiresome for you to move furniture like sofas every time you clean the house. Therefore, the Roomba cleaner comes in handy since it can properly do the task without any movement of furniture.
More importantly, you can use your wifi connected robot Roomba remotely. You can program its operations using an app on your smartphone, and you can also use the same device to control it. You can schedule the cleaner to start cleaning your place during a specific period, and you do not need to switch it on.
The vacuum is also fantastic in that you can operate it remotely using your phone from any place. Even away from home, you can clean your house and manage to control the vacuum cleaner using your smartphone.
Roomba is very simple to use despite its complexity in design. When the battery is full, you press the green button, and it starts cleaning your house while you relax. The robot does not require any supervision, and you do not need to worry about it falling from the first floor.
However, you should take note of the fact that the Roomba robot does not think like a human being. Therefore, do not overestimate its potential to clean the house. It may miss some areas, and it is your responsibility to clean your home periodically. For instance, the robot vacuum cleaner cannot thoroughly clean the corners of your house.
