Adding More Space into Your iOS Devices

iPad Storage

iPad Storage

iPhones and iPads do not contain the file systems that you usually find, but there are still some files and apps that take up space. You will be able to see exactly what is taking up the small amount of space, and free it up.

All of your installed apps have been listed down on the Usage screen in size order (Scroll down and click on Show all Apps to see smaller apps). Click on one to check how much space this app has taken up, and how much space is being used to store documents and data. This is an exception when it comes to built-in apps, which you can’t remove. But you can still click on Delete Apps to reclaim all of this space.

A lot of downloaded games do take up plenty of space, so the games in your phone or tablet will most likely appear near the top of your Usage list. Click on an app in the list, then Delete App to get rid of it from your gadget. Certain apps have quite a bit of space used through their Documents and Data. A typical app’s Documents and data will contain any files and other documents that the app has downloaded or made. You can’t clear the Documents and Data of an app, from its screen. You’re going to have to both delete the app, and then re-install it to remove the app’s temporary data from within it. You can open up the Setting screen inside Pocket, and click on Clear Downloaded Files to remove the offline copies of the downloaded articles. This will lessen the Pocket app’s usage of Documents and Data. Not all apps contain this sort of option, so you’re going to have to remove then re-install the app if it’s taking up a large amount of space for its temporary data.

Video files can also take up plenty of space, so it makes sense to delete the clips that you’ve seen, or don’t need. In the Videos app, click on Films, Music Videos or TV Programs tab, and then click on the Edit button found on the top right. Tap the X on the file you want to remove. To remove individual episodes of a TV show, click on the show title to check the list, and then swipe to the left across the episode and click on the Delete button once it shows up.
