Creating a Facebook Scrapbook for Your Kids

Facebook Scrapbook

Facebook Scrapbook

If you like sharing photos of your children on Facebook, then you might enjoy Facebook’s new Scrapbook feature that gathers the photos that you have of your children, and stores them in one place. Scrapbooks also make it easy for you to share your children’s photos with your partner’s Facebook friends.

Facebook’s Scrapbook feature also allows you to make a photo tag for your kids, even if they don’t have a Facebook account, and then make an album of your images in which your child is tagged. The smaller and younger a child is, the more likely is his or her parent prone to sharing their pictures on Facebook. This starts with the parent uploading a whole barrage of newborn baby photos, then followed eventually by the little milestones that the baby manages to achieve in the next few years. And because your child isn’t allowed to make his own Facebook account until he or she reaches the age of 13, Scrapbook allows you to tag your child’s pictures before he even thinks about having his own Facebook page.

Create Scrapbooks

If you’re not okay with giving Facebook your child’s full name, you can just use a nickname, their initials, or basically just anything. Afterwards, you need to select how you and the child are related. You have four choices: Son, Daughter, Child (gender-neutral), or Pet.

To build a scrapbook, you need to add your child as a family member in your Facebook profile. After doing so, go to your profile and click ‘About’ below the cover photo. Go to ‘Family and Relationship’. Add your child’s name to Scrapbook. Then, click on ‘Get Started’. You can choose if you want to add your partner, and then click on ‘Create Scrapbook’.

You can also delete a tag of your child from an image. If you delete the tag from a photo, then this photo will also be taken off the child’s scrapbook. People in this group will only see photos that you share with a group. If you tag your kids in a photo that has been shared in a group, this photo will not be included in the scrapbook.

You can also remove your child’s scrapbook, which will get rid of your child’s tag from any image. Deleting the scrapbook itself will not remove the photos that were included in the scrapbook. A photo needs to be removed by the person who shared it.

I have loved that I can keep my daughters photos organized with scrapbook. Each year I download my “year” album from fb and upload it to Shutterfly and print a book. With the addition of my second daughter last year, I made them separate scrapbooks and have tagged them religiously all of 2018, only to find out that the scrapbook albums don’t download like all of my regular albums. Any ideas or something I’m missing!?

It seems you can’t download the scrapbook. You can still download the photo albums if you want as described here: https://www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=10152515845571472

    hope that helps
